Chlorine Alternatives

Everyone loves clear and sparkling pool water, but not the irritants that are sometimes associated with chlorine. With these helpful alternatives, you can achieve soft, clear water that’s easier on your hair, eyes and skin – not to mention our environment.

Some chlorine alternatives, such as the POOL FROG® or Nature 2 system, reduce chlorine usage by combining water treatment with gentler mineral formulas. These cost-effective systems do a great job at purifying your water, but with far less levels of chlorine. Also consider alternative pool water treatments, such as EcoOne™, which fights algae without using harsh chemicals.

Another option is a pool chlorine generator. Although they can be given many different names (salt chlorine generator, saltwater pool system, salt water chlorinator), chlorine generators all work by altering your water’s chemical composition. They continuously purify water by converting salt ions into chlorine ions (sodium hypochlorite). This requires you to maintain a low level of salt in your pool at all times – just enough so that the system can convert the ions in to chlorine, and back again. Swimming pool chlorinators leave water wonderfully smooth and silky to the touch, a benefit that is well worth the investment.
