Just as the name implies, a swimming pool sand filter removes impurities by pushing your water through sand. Particles are strained and filtered out from the sand, and then the pool filter system directs the clean water back into your pool. Sand pool filters are popular with many of our customers because they are easy to use and extremely affordable – especially with discount prices and overnight shipping from Doheny’s Water Warehouse. Sand water filters are typically able to trap debris as small as 20 to 40 microns. Over time, your sand pool water filter will become dirty as it removes more and more dirt and debris (this just means it’s doing its job!). This type of swimming pool filter is cleaned by backwashing, a simple process that basically just runs the filter in reverse, removing the dirty water from the pool filter system. You can also replace older sand with new, clean sand at anytime. You’ll want to choose a pool sand filter system that best matches up to the size of your pool.
