Different from other DE pool filters, the Hayward Perflex uses a patented Flex-Tube that uses the same D.E. media. A proprietary bump handle activates a mechanism that helps the Flex-Tubes shed excess dirt and filter powder. This means you get longer cycles in-between cleaning. Over the years i have used sand and cartridge filters for above-ground and in-ground pools. Then, a neighbor turned me on to the DE filter system. After a rocky start (my fault) I got the system working properly. I have been using it for a few seasons now and there is no way I would replace it. I get clearer and cleaner water than any previous systems that I had used.
