Simply press the plug in place to close off skimmer, and pull the plug off to re-open. The Skimmer Plug not only fits most skimmer openings without the need to replace the faceplate, it also serves as a replacement lid for all specialty faceplates.
Standard Skimmer Plug: Fits most standard 6 in. above ground skimmers including Hayward SP1090, SP1091LX, SP1092 and Aqauador 1090 faceplates.
Widemouth Skimmer Plug: Fits two common above ground skimmer openings. Item #5221 fits skimmers with an opening of 5-3/16in x 11-9/16in. including Haywards SP1090 WM, 1095, Hercules, Jacuzzi, Olympic, Sta-Rite and Aquador. Item #8221 fits skimmers of 4-13/16in x 11-1/2in including Hayward SP 1091 WM.

Rating this is a super idea for saving water and time, it plugs in place and your done! I checked my skimmer over two weeks later and the plug is still working. Doheny is my favorite place to shop for all my pool supplies, shipping is fast and they always have everything I need for the summer.

Rating I was using a snap on skimmer cover which always leaked and then would crack by spring. This plug took some elbow grease to squeeze in but it seems to be a snug fit. My next wish is that I can reuse it. Buying the snap on covers every fall can get expensive. I'll keep you posted.

Rating I always used a gizmo to close my pool, sometimes the gizmos threads would strip and had to use teflon tape to keep building it up so that it would stay in tight. The skimmer plug was so easy, all i did is pushed it in tight into the square opening where the water goes in and I'm done, couldent be easier. plus I didn't have to drain my water below the skimmer like always, what a great idea, wished I would have bought one years ago.
