Olympic Poxolon 2 Epoxy Pool Coating 1 Gallon, Black
Low Maintenance, Long Lasting Paint
A new coat of paint can freshen up even the most faded and dull pool. Olympic Poxolon 2 Epoxy Pool Coating is the 2-coat Epoxy Coating that may be applied with either an airless sprayer or roller. When the paint cures it creates a hard, non-porous, glossy finish that is stain resistant and prohibits algae growth.
HOW ARE POOL PAINTS DIFFERENT FROM OTHER PAINTS?
Not only are pool paints completely waterproof, they also have to withstand years of ultraviolet rays, chlorine and chemicals that keep the pool water clean and crystal clear. And don’t forget the wear and tear, scrapes and scratches from boisterous children and pets.
WHEN TO PAINT THE POOL
THE PAINT IS FADED
While the Olympic Poxolon 2 Epoxy Pool Coating is long lasting, any paint will fade after years of exposure to the elements and chemicals. If the pool contains high metal or mineral content, stains and waterline rings may appear.
Please note that the pool surface will need prepping before painting which includes cleaning, priming, and possibly sanding.
SLIPPERY SURFACE
Since pool paints are waterproof, they may cause the pool surface to be slippery. Preventing a potential safety hazard of someone slipping on the steps, shallow end, swim outs or benches can be easily fixed by painting the pool and adding a few tablespoons of very fine sand to the affected areas. The sand may be added either to the paint before painting the affected area or sprinkled directly on the area after painting and while the paint is still wet.
It is very important not to overuse the sand because it will become too gritty to walk on and may cause injury to wet skin.
BUBBLES AND BLISTERS
If a pool was painted and not properly prepared, the paint will begin to bubble or blister. Pool paint needs to be applied to a clean, dry, smooth surface.
Main causes of bubbles or blisters:
- Surface was dirty when painted
- Surface was wet when painted
- Rough spots were not sanded
- Paint was applied too thick
- Surface was too hot when painted
For the best possible outcome, paint the pool during cool, dry weather.
BRAND NEW POOL
Olympic Poxolon 2 Epoxy Pool Coating is a perfect choice for a new pool. It can be used on concrete, plaster, fiberglass, and metal pools with excellent results.
NOTE: Uncoated pool surfaces will require a coat of primer to ensure good adhesion.
