Keep your pool clean, safe, and inviting all season long with proper maintenance. Regular care prevents algae, stains, and equipment issues while ensuring your pool water stays crystal clear.

Check Your Filtration System

The filter system traps debris and small particles that do not dissolve in your pool water. It consists of the pump, which circulates the water, and the filter, which removes impurities. Most pool filters use sand, diatomaceous earth (DE), or cartridge elements. Always operate and maintain your filter according to the manufacturer’s instructions, including routine cleaning or backwashing.

Clean Your Skimmer and Pump Basket

The skimmer and pump baskets collect large debris before it reaches the filter. Empty and clean these baskets frequently to ensure proper water circulation and maintain maximum filtration efficiency.

Vacuum Your Pool

Vacuuming removes debris from the bottom of your pool, helping maintain a clean and healthy water environment. Most manual pool vacuums attach to the skimmer and use pump pressure to pull debris through the filter system. Tip: Make sure no air is in the vacuum hose. Submerge the hose underwater or place it over a return fitting to remove air before connecting to the skimmer.

Leaf Skimming

Use a leaf skimmer on a vacuum pole to remove leaves, insects, and other floating debris. Removing debris before it reaches the filter or settles on the pool bottom saves time, improves filter efficiency, and prevents staining.

Brush Pool Walls and Floor

Regular brushing helps remove dirt and debris that can accumulate on walls and the bottom of your pool. It also prevents algae growth and staining. Brush your pool as part of weekly maintenance or as needed.

Keep Surrounding Deck Areas Clean

Prevent debris from entering the pool by keeping the deck and surrounding areas free of dirt, leaves, and other loose materials. Regularly hose down the deck or rake nearby yards to reduce unnecessary cleaning and maintain water clarity.
