Vinyl Works Model IN-24 & IN-32 In-Pool Steps – Installation & Safety Guide

Proper assembly and installation of your in-pool step system are essential for long-term stability and pool liner protection. These steps are designed for use with flat-bottom above-ground pools only and should never be used in "dished" bottom pools.

Safety Instructions & Proper Use

  • Weight Capacity: Supports one person up to 300 lbs when properly installed.
  • Supervision: Never allow children to swim unattended. Always face the steps when entering or exiting the pool.
  • Entry Restrictions: These steps are for entry and exit only. Absolutely no diving or jumping from the steps.
  • Liner Protection: Ensure stringers are free of debris or sharp edges. Using a step pad is highly recommended to extend the life of your pool liner.

Key Assembly Highlights

  • Tread Preparation: The treads are hollow and designed to fill with water to prevent floating. You may drill a small 1/4" hole in the ends of the tread risers to speed up the water-filling process.
  • Folding Treads: Treads are flexible and designed to fold along a center line. If the material is cold, using hot water or a hair dryer can soften the plastic for easier folding.
  • Ballast Requirement: For maximum stability, add approximately 10-15 lbs of clean gravel into both the left and right stringer cavities before finalizing installation.
  • Deck Attachment: Secure the system to your deck using both the front and rear mounting flanges provided. Ensure the step is pulled tight against the pool wall to minimize any gaps.

Tools Required for Assembly

You will need a 7/16" socket or nut driver, Phillips screwdriver, measuring tape, and a utility knife or hand saw. A drill with 5/16" and 1/4" bits may also be required for certain adjustments.

Pro Tip: These step systems must be removed from the pool during winterization to prevent damage from ice or extreme weather conditions.

ALWAYS SWIM SAFELY & RESPONSIBLY!
