Installation Instructions
INGROUND AND ABOVEGROUND COVERS
IMPORTANT - 6 Things to Avoid When Installing Your Winter Cover
1. If you find that your cover is too small, do not stretch it across the pool in an attempt to make it fit. Your cover should fit as shown in Diagram 1, below.
2. Your cover is made to have rain water accumulate on top of it all winter. This water will not damage your cover in any way. Do not pump off the cover during the Fall. Water on top of the cover will hold it in place and protect your cover from wind damage.
3. Your cover is sized for a maximum water drop below the deck of 18". If you normally drop your water more than 18" in the Fall, return you cover and order a larger size. Refer to Diagram #1 for proper fit.
4. Do not use bricks or sharp blocks to weigh down your cover as they will cut and scuff the cover. Yard Guard recommends using water tubes for cover installation for inground covers.
5. If you tie your cover to a fence or other permanent structure. be sure to use a flexible bungie cord. This flexible cord will allow the cover to shift as snow and ice accumulate without pulling out the corner tabs or straps. Water tubes must still be used.
6. Since your cover has sewn seams, some water will seep on top of the cover. This is normal, and it will not affect the performance of your cover. In the Spring or when you pump off your cover, be sure that the pump is not placed directly on a sewn seam. Putting the pump on the seam will pull pool water from underneath the cover and drain the pool.
ABOVEGROUND - SKIRTED COVER INSTALLATION
2. Feed the cable through the black web loops so that the cable is pressing against the cover.
3. Insert the ends of the wire into the enclosed metal tightener.
4. Commence tightening the wire until the cover is firmly resting evenly against the pool wall.
5. FOR SKIRTED COVERS ONLY - The metal clip can be attached at the other pool upright support. The clip should be attached approximately 1" below the edge of the cover.
6. If the cable is completely tight, loosen it slightly.
7. Wherever there is an attached clip, lower the cable to lock under it.
8. Re-tighten the cable.
This cover is not a safety cover. Weighted objects such as people or animals must be kept off.
