How Do Cartridge Filters Work?
Cartridge filters use a pleated polyester filter element to trap particles as small as 5–7 microns. Water flows through the cartridge, where debris is captured in the folds of the fabric. Clean water is then returned to the pool.
Unlike sand or DE filters, cartridge filters don’t require backwashing. Instead, you simply remove the cartridge and rinse it with a garden hose. Cartridges typically last 2–3 years, depending on usage and water conditions.
