Hayward Leaf Canister Guide (Models W530 & W560)
The Hayward W530 and Large Capacity W560 Leaf Canisters act as a pre-filter for your pool’s circulation system. By trapping debris before it reaches the pump basket, these canisters extend equipment life and maintain vacuum suction.
Installation Instructions
To connect your canister to a suction cleaner:
- Turn off the filter pump.
- Disconnect the cleaner hose between the first and second sections from the pool wall.
- Attach the male end of the second hose section to the TOP of the canister.
- Submerge the canister to remove air, then connect the female end of the first hose section to the BOTTOM.
- Turn on the pump and ensure the cleaner is purged of air.
Maintenance & Cleaning
Empty the canister when the clear body shows significant debris buildup:
- Turn off the filter pump.
- Unscrew the lock ring (counter-clockwise) and remove the lid.
- Rinse the debris bag (W530) or basket (W560) and the canister body.
- Lubricate the lid O-ring with a non-petroleum lubricant before re-assembling.
