Meyco Safety Pool Cover Technical Overview
This guide provides the official engineering standards for Meyco Safety Covers to ensure the installation meets ASTM F 1346-91 safety performance specifications[cite: 7, 186].
Installation Requirements:
- Anchor Placement: Drill 3/4" diameter holes to a depth of 1-3/4" for screw-type anchors or 2" for pop-up style anchors. Anchors should typically be located 20" back from the cover's edge[cite: 77, 84].
- Spring Tension: Adjust straps until springs are compressed approximately halfway (about 2-1/2")[cite: 88, 104]. For new installations, covers should be set extremely taut[cite: 102].
- Winter Water Levels: To prevent undue stress on the cover, water levels must be maintained within 18" of the top of the pool during the snow season[cite: 58, 275].
Seasonal Maintenance: Anchor inserts should be removed each spring and fall to flush dirt out of the shells[cite: 116]. Apply a light coating of silicone or Teflon spray to ensure smooth operation; do not use oil or grease[cite: 117].
Tools Needed: Rotary hammer drill, 3/4" bit (diamond tipped recommended), tape measure, chalk line, mallet, and hex key[cite: 59, 60, 62, 321].
